In temperate countries, daylight running light is a standard. Most driver would utilize such device.
In a bright sunny tropical country, it's quite redundant. Why wasting petrol to light a well lit road? Cheapskate? Maybe. But it's acceptable.
However, such cheapskate attitude is dangerous when applied while driving in a gloomy, rainy weather.
It's quite dark this morning, even at 9 o'clock. Rainy season. It's monsoon. I'll usually turn off my fog lights, latest by half past 7. Safety first. That's what you'll be after surviving an accident and got afflicted with PTSD. In other words Defensive Driving.
However, in a place full of cheapskates, only 20% turned on their fog-light. Some luxury cars where DRL as a standard issue don't even bother to turn on theirs.
Yep, you can see the road even without DRL in the rain, but that doesn't mean other drivers can see you. It's dark, and there's water droplets on the windshield.
Worse, some don't even turn on their turn signal when turning.
Better play safe and turn on your fog-light or DRL when driving in the rain. Well, if you choose life over a few gallons of gas...
