life of a leftie... (MAD school)

Being a leftie is being marginalized. About 10% of the world populations are leftie. Being the minority, we're oppressed by the 'normal' right-handers. Yes, you right-handers might deny, citing Obama as the president, yadda-yadda-yadda. You're not a leftie, what do you know about us?

One of the reason why I hate medical courses is because it is not left-hander friendly. Especially in this 'right is right' region. They might deny it but that's the fact.

First, the Physical Examination. One have to stand on the patient's right side. No biggie. But if you're a leftie, your working hand might knock the patient's face, causing harm, making them hurt, and you'll get penalized in exam... so much of "do no harm" philosophy. It's in the reference book.

One might ask, why not stand on the patient's left. Asking permission to stand on the patient's left side is a quick way to fail your clinical examination. Especially when your examiners are dinosaurs. They would ask "Which reference book are you using? It's not in McLeod or Nicholas Tally's" I wish I could just display them in the museum... Archaic attitude towards lefties, those think should be extinct... Well, a leftie should know that, medical school is discriminatory towards lefties... and they'll deny it... Finding an instrument for a leftie in my former school and teaching hospital is harder than finding a needle in a haystack. There's not even 1 writing desk for a leftie in the PBL room.

Personally, I won't recommend a leftie to be a doctor*. Yes, they are some leftie doctors. Again, left-handedness is not alway left and right only. I'm almost an extreme leftist... Again, a leftie with dyslexia, total minority.

Left or Right? The world is not digital... yes/no, 0/1. Even sexual orientation have it's own scale, not only homo/hetero...

Having to explain that to a right handed parents is another pain in the ass... Why, God, why??? Why am I a left-hander? In an all-right family? In this discriminatory region. I wish I can sue for hate-crime.

Being the odd one makes me the black sheep in the family. No I don't have 3 bagfuls of  wool.

*I'm not discouraging any lefties to be a doctor. Just find a more 'open-minded' 'non-cheapskate' medical school. Probably outside Asia.
