Prior to 2014 aviation accident, not many knew that websites to monitor airplanes exists to public web user.
I'm talking about flightradar24, FlightStats and so on. My favourite site is flightradar24.
I've been 'plane-watching' using this site way before 9M-MRO went missing.
Once, my bestie was anxious about her boyfriend. She posted it on Facebook. Knowing the plight of being anxious, I tried to help her 'track' her beau. (No, I'm not a bounty-hunter)
I asked her some of the flight details. And then I typed CX, HKG and LAX to find the flight number. Next, I look for the airplane registration and search for the airplane using flightradar24.
The Boeing 777 is flying over the pacific near Japan.
"He'll land in about 6 hours" I told my bestie.
That's in 2013, when only aviation enthusiast know such website exists.
I am indeed an aviation geek.
